Technology and Combat characteristicsEdit

As the successor of the GAT-04 series, the Jegan is the new mass-produced mobile suit of the UCR Armed Forces. The suit is lighter and more maneuverable than the previous Windam units, although it is not as well armed as the Windam. Nevertheless it performed very well and thus it was put into mass production. As a mobile suit based on the RGM series, the Jegan's design focuses more on being easy to use, easy to maintain, and possessing a high cost-effectiveness. Because of the size of the UCR Forces, it was imperative to possess a mobile suit that could be easily used by a wide range of pilots, and used a wide set of common mobile suit parts that could be quickly and cheaply replaced.  For weapons the Jegan was equipped with a beam saber stored in a waist recharge rack and a waist mounted three-tube hand grenade rack. It was also equipped with the optional armaments of a head-mounted vulcan gun pod, a forearm mounted shield that had two 2-tube small missile launchers, and a beam rifle or a bazooka. As the Jegan remained in service over the years, it received periodic technological upgrades, producing a large number of variants.

HistoryEdit

Atlantis SkirmishEdit

The RGM-89 Jegan first saw combat against the UNSC over a planet that was the location of an ancient city called Atlantis. During the skirmish, the Jegan proved to be a an effective weapon against large crafts like the Longsword Fighter fielded by UNSC forces led by Rouge ONI Agents.

Wraith ConflictEdit

Weeks later, the Jegan, along with many of it's spin off variants were used extensivly in the Wraith Conflict, proving effective against Wraith Darts but were ovetaken due to the Wraith's swarm tactics that were used throughout the war.

Three Month ConflictEdit

During the Three month Conflict, Jegans were used by both the UCR and A World With No Bounderies (AWWNB), a split off group of rouge UCR Soldiers. AWWNB Jegans were painted white, so they could be told apart from the Jegans the UCR used.

2560'sEdit

The Jegan saw two major refit operations in early 2561, the first of which was the RGM-89A2 which was a specialized High performance variant issued to elite combat companies. The second being the RGM-89R Jegan A-Type, which was a lesser version of the 89A2 that was used by the regular forces.

The Jegan would be operated by the UCR Forces until 2568, in where it was replaced by the newer RGM-109 Heavygun.

2570'sEdit

Although the Jegan was fully phased out from UCR Service by 2570, it still used by numerous Independent Colony worlds as different variants. These variants include the heavy combat oriented FD-03 Karl Gustav, the identical RGM-89J and RGM-89M, and RGM-89B Super Jegan

From it's initial rollout in 2557 to it's end of production in 2566, 2,500 Jegans were produced overall, making it the most numerous and longest serving Mobile Suit in existance. In 2578, the Jegan Mobile Suit was sold to Corneria to continue its service.
