Infernal Demons, also known simply as Infernals, are a class of powerful demon that are tied to the ancient art of summoning. These creatures reside in hell, and are often unique in nature, though there is nothing in particular that makes a demon an Infernal other than their tremendous power, either via magic or raw strength.
Summoning an Infernal DemonEdit
Demon Summoning is a sub-class of summoning on the magic tree, often learnt by enthusiasts of the dark arts or simply those who wish to specialise in the art of summoning. It takes a least a somewhat skilled sorcerer to summon an Infernal Demon, as despite it being a powerful spell, it is fairly simple to learn.
The main challenge to this spell, however, is its limitation of usage. To summon an Infernal Demon is to release it from hell, because of this, an Infernal Demon can only be summoned for a few minutes before it has to disappear. It is possible to summon a Infernal Demon for longer, but this runs the risk of the Infernal breaking out of the control the summoner has over it, leaving it unable to be desummoned and free of constraints.
When summoned, an Infernal Demon only has one goal in mind and it will focus solely on that goal for the duration it is summoned. The command is often stated verbally by the summoner when choosing and summoning the Infernal, sometimes non verbally if the summoner is skilled enough.
The Book of Infernal DemonsEdit
The Book of Infernal Demons is an essential tome needed in the teaching and learning of the art of summoning Infernals. Inscribed upon the pages of the book is a complete list of every known Infernal Demon, a detailed description of their behaviour and powers, and the incantation needed to summon them.
Though necessary to have in order to learn how to summon an Infernal Demon, the book itself is not actually required for the process, and a skilled summoner is capable of summoning an infernal demon simply by memorising the incantation of the specific Infernal they want.
Asterius, Punisher of the DamnedEdit
There once was a king known for his hideous rage, who would commit those who angered him to cruel and unusual tortures. One method he favoured beyond others was flaying his prisoner and then chaining them to a bull they had brought to the brink of anger and allowing it to rampage through the streets.
In death, the king became an Infernal Demon, one bound in chains and burning with the same rage he had in life. The chains prevent Asterius from being fully summoned, and thus, he is the only Infernal Demon capable of being summoned for an extended amount of time without threat of him breaking loose, however this does not mean he will listen to the summoner still.
Diomedes, Severer of the DarkEdit
One of four man-eating horses that were owned by the ruler of a fallen kingdom. With the demise of the kingdom, the horses were murdered and arrived in hell. Of the four, the soul of one inherited the name of the king and was reborn as a Infernal Demon.
The large blade extending from its forehead is a soul reaper that leaves a trail of mutilated dead in whatever direction it runs. Though it typically hates being treated like a horse, it tolerates those who have proven themselves worthy.
Gomorrah, Devourer of the DevineEdit
A monstrous creature that resides within the demonic woods of Hell. Gomorrah has the form of a Drake, and in turn is incredibly fierce, identifying all that moves as game to be devoured and torn apart by its mighty maw.
It is a popular among summoners, as it is known for it dependability when dealing with an enemy. However, it is known for its incontrollability, and will turn on its summoner as soon as their control falters.
Hekatoncheir, Shatterer of the EarthEdit
A giant endowed with six fearsome arms capable of pulverising mountains, it is said to leave a trail of earthquakes behind it as it wonders hell. What it lacks in knowledge it makes up for in sheer brutality, even the most skilled sorcerers take heed of the dangers this beast presents.
Hekatoncheir's full body is unable to be summoned due to its sheer size, and thus, only the giants mighty fists can appear through the summoning seal, delivering a devastating barrage of punches at anyone or anything unlucky enough to be in front of them.
Hideous, Craver of HatredEdit
A clan of the demons who infest the caves of Hell. They constantly scuttle in groups, searching for unfortunate prey who have lost their way. Despite their mad scramble when food appears, Hideous possess a very strong intelligence, able to forge various weapons and rarely challenging enemies that appear in larger numbers than their own.
Though it is highly dangerous, Hideous are often summoned in groups of threes, as a single one, though powerful, can be defeated if the enemy is capable enough, summoning three is more like an insurance that the summoners target will be defeated.
Orient, Deliverer of SoulsEdit
Though not a demon in and of itself, the train is a vessel for which the souls of the damned inhabit, these souls have twisted the locomotives shape and propel it on a never ending voyage across hell.
The train itself was the site of numerous murders, the cases of which remained unsolved and the killer unknown. The souls that posses the train are those of the murder victims, enraged that their killer was not caught.
It is incapable of stopping, as it generates its own tracks that prevent it from crashing. It is said that if you hear the haunting sound of this trains whistle, you must run, as if you are present when it passes, your soul will be absorbed and burned within the trains engine.
Labolas, Destroyer of FatesEdit
Once a beloved dog who was taken, beaten and thrown into a river, the dogs soul appeared in hell and adapted to its harsh environment and grew into a force to be reckoned with.
The once normal dog was corrupted and has now turned into a large saber-toothed predator, with heads at the ends of its feet and large wings on its back.
With its superb hunting abilities, Labolas is known as a merciless butcher and once it has sunken its teeth into something, it will not let go until its preys last breath.
Madama Butterfly, Mistress of AtrocityEdit
Formally a pure and faithful nun who died under unfortunate circumstances, this woman's soul appeared in hell, reborn as a demon.
Unlike her beautiful, swallowtail butterfly-like appearance, this demon is particularly brutal, and her reputation is well known even amongst the denizens of hell. She is a master of dark magics, capable of devastating spells as well as powerful physical attacks.
Many people throughout the years have made contracts with this demon, for the price of their souls, she would impart onto them enormous power and great wisdom.
Malphas, Harbinger of KnowledgeEdit
An enigmatic raven-black bird shrouded in the mysteries of the sky. Ever curious, Malphas has filled itself with all the realms knowledge and mysteries.
However, this same curiosity has led to a rather brutal demeanour, causing the bird to tear those it encounters to shreds with its sharp beak and razor-like talons.
Its large wingspan produces a ominous shadow that lurks across the ground as it sours across the skies of hell. Undead will recoil in fear when seeing it, as no fate can be worse than what follows that shadow.
Mictlantecuhtli, Presser of DestructionEdit
A gigantic bat that lurks in one of the darkest and deepest of hell's endless caves, it is said to leave trails of the plague wherever it goes.
The protrusion on its head is not an eye, but a spiritual sensory organ that can allow Mictlantecuhtil to access the world in far deeper ways than beings who must only rely on sight alone.
Scolopendra, Eradicator of ParadiseEdit
A vile centipede hailing from Styx, a river of boiling lava in the depths of hell, rumours speak of it's statistic nature, and the pleasure it takes from constricting its prey and crushing them within its grasp.
Its long, twisting body is said to be 10 kilometers in length, but despite this the demon is incredibly fast, its deftness allowing it to ponce the coil around a target in the blink of an eye.
The lava it lives in has tempered its boney hide, making is incredibly thick and durable. Even the strongest of weapons are incapable of piercing it, and its natural habitat makes it immune to heat based spells.
Cerberus, Watchdog of DarknessEdit
Formerly a pack of vicious hounds owned by a twisted head of a crime family, the dogs knew not love nor affection and were treated simply as tools, tools used to rip and tear apart those unfortunate enough to cross their master.
They were trained well, all that fell into their pit was to be considered food, even if it was their very own master. In death, the souls of this pack merged into one, reflective of their collective pack mentality and from this darkened souls formed a ruthless and powerful beast with the same mentality as it had in life. To rip and tear all those it sees before it.
